With a long history spanning three decades it has become an Institution nestled in the Craighall Park Valley.

Attracting an upmarket crowd, Giles has become popular with young professionals, local residents and sports fanatics alike.

The Menu has changed very little over the last 30 years with a core focus on Classic English Food. Rich with decadence associated with Country Living. A strong commitment to not lose regulars by becoming too contemporary.

A Weekly “the Chef Recommends” is created and posted, designed and produced by the inhouse Chef Maxwell Ndlovu who has been in the Kitchen for the last 20 Years.

Founders at Giles has stood the test of time by focusing on consistency and quality by a dynamic Management Team. The late Ian Baldwin Gillies and Jennifer Gillies opened Giles in 1994. Giles was sold to a consortium in 2018. The restaurant is in the throes of being upgraded and is now run by the Founders Grill family.
The Giles pub definitely gives you the feeling of being in an Ol’ English Pub and attracts an upmarket crowd. Giles is popular amongst young professionals, local residents and sport fanatics alike, and some local stalwarts.
Founders Restaurant has started to make inroads into other steakhouse clientele, with comments like “Best Burger Ever” and “Will definitely be back for the T-Bone”. The restaurant has a superb deck overlooking the Craighall Park valley which has magnificent sunset views. The chef’s have all been trained at the Founders Grill restaurant and are proud of the food that they are producing.
The restaurant has also opened on Sundays for the Craighall Park residents to come and enjoy a hearty Souvlaki meal for just R150.
The current food menu and wine list is extensive and should appease even the most ardent of food connoisseurs, however this will be reduced in time once the restaurant understands what the clientele favourites are.
